Start: 08:10am. Finish: 10:56am. Time GMT - 7 hours +18c, half overcast and med. wind at start. 27c and same at finish. Again a shorter stage, which is fine, as the legs are still a bit stiff from the competition 2 days ago in Fennimore. Again today I enjoyed the company of local runners throughout the stage. This time not high-school runner?s track & field team runners but a bit older members of the local running club. They didn?t run slower though! The stage had quite a few long and fairly steep hills but they kept strong pace - especially upwards!! I much appreciate that local runner coming out to run the stages with me. It makes it much much easier to get through the miles with heavy legs from 1.7 years of running. Often we talk through the first hours of the run and by the time I realize that I am again out on the usually daily bit of running - I am almost at the finish of the days stage :-) The next stages: 31/7: to Dubuque. - on the highway 81 & 61. 1.08: Galena 2.08: Elizabeth. 3.08: Stockton. 4.08: Freeport. 5.08: Rockford. 6.08: Belvidere 7.08: Rest day w. the Chicago Pioneer / Danish Club. 8.08: Marengo. - All the above on Hwy. 20. 9.08: Rd. 47 # Hwy. 20. 10.08: I. 90 # Rd. 47. 11.08: Lilydale. 12.08: Montgomery. - all the above on Road 47. 13.08: Plainfield (Hwy. 30). 14.08: New Lennox / alternative route via Manhattan. 15.08: Matteson. 16.08: Dyer. 17.08: Valpariso. 18.08: Hanna. 19.08: Plymouth. - all the above on hwy. 30 East. |
