World Run I / ReportsGoto: 2005-04-11 2005-04-13 USA 2005-04-12: 13Distance today: 40.0 km (Accumulated: 20284.0 km) Country: USA 2005.04.12. [Smokey; cross of Smokey Boulevard. and 172 Street N.E.] - [Burlington; cross of S. Burlington Boulevard. and Gorge Hopper Dr.]. 2.Steet., left and right to 1.Street., right to Highway 538 and left to Riverside Dr. into S. Burlington Boulevard.>. (Crew: Sarah & John Little all stage). 40km, 3:49:07h. Excl. food, water, road-finding, toilet etc. stops Total 20243km. Start: 11:09am. Finish: 16:06pm. Time GMT - 8 hours +8c, light rain and med. wind at start. 10c, grey overcast and same wind at finish. Another enjoyable stage, even with a bit of cold rain - when you have a team to support you, suddenly any weather looks good :-) Speaking of weather: as you can see from the reports the temperature has graduate gone down as I have run up along the West side of the continent - not surprising when going North - but I admit that I had expected the evolving spring to make up for it. Not so! Yesterday I saw snow at the roadside as I drove from the finish with my crew. Makes the awaiting run across the Rocky Mountains in a few weeks an interesting prospect.. ;-) Luckily I will have the company of an ultra athlete from Austria (a Dutch runner living in Austria) on that stretch of the run from Vancouver to Calgary. A good thing for a "low Lander" like me when heading into that kind of mountain terrain :-) |
