World Run I / ReportsGoto: 2004-09-24 2004-09-26 Russia 2004-09-25:Distance today: 50.0 km (Accumulated: 12023.0 km) Country: Russia 2004 09 25. Route Report: <"BOMO4AEBKA II, 1km", 500m after road sign 2127 on M58 > - 50km, 5:08:02 h (J.). Excl. food, water, toilet etc. stop. Total 11.982km. (J.). Start 10:49am (all). Finish 17:02pm (all). Time GMT + 10 hours. +13c, light wind and clear sky at start. 20c and same at finish. Runner company all stage; media and police escort last 13km. A beautiful stage in company of some spirited local ultra runners. Despite being veteran runners at about 60 years age in average, they went "head on" into the stage; two of them outpacing us by =5:00 min/km, and all giving us a mental 'power-up' that should boost us to Vladivostock :-) At finish - an outstanding view of the 600 000 citizens large city; warm welcome by the city; sauna & dinner (combined!!) - and a interview by a charming journalist.. What more can you ask? A "perfect world", maybe?? - but that it isn?t. During the week one of Austrailas leading 100km runners, Nigel Aylott, died from a deep fall in an adventure race. We expect to reach Australia in little more than 1 month from now. It reminds how quick things can turn. We send our thoughts to his friends and family. |
