Route Report: Sokol [Roadsign 33 on M53, near factory sign "Sokol"] -
Voronova[Roadsign "Voronova"(Bopohobo in cyrillic); 500m after rds.82 on
M53].
49km, 4:19:31 h. (J.). (much extra time besides the stopwatch-time due to
a small fall, etc.).
Start 9:44am (all). Finish 14:27pm (J.), 16:49 (A.), 19:30 (K.).
At start: +22c, clear sky, no wind; humid. 28c, light wind and humid at
finish.
- On todays stage it had become my turn to have a bit of unluck. Got my
first 'road bite' when I after 7km of running caught "a handfull of
tarmac" as I fell while writing yesterdays report (see picture serie).
- If I was slightly careless before, I now know there's an athletic eq. to
the
"dont drive & talk" - "dont ultra-run & sms" ;-]
Well; it could have ended worse (I could have injured the mobile phone..
;-)
And in the light of my teammates present struggles it is not much of
problem.
But atlas; my fun wasnt over: at the roadwork you see on the midstage
picture I was met by a heavily over-speeding bmw 4wd car who threw gravel
left & right after its trails. My share of the event' was a lumb of
hardned tarmac that hit the chest region.
Nothing broken, but I sure had a party out there today ;-))
Yet, I had expected far worse when we started planning the Siberia stages,
about 2 years ago.
And in the big picture small annoyments diseappear quickly - confrontet
with the beauty of the huge Siberian nature !!
PS: Our very best wishes to the runners in the
Cross Amerika Footrace (ca.5000km) & and the Russian Supermarathon
Organisation's "Golden Circle" run.
Both run's start this weekend if we remember correct ! - Enjoy the road &
overcome the problems :-)
