45km., 4:59h.
Finally we arrive in Kazan; the easternmost place during our training camp
and road-test last year.
From now on its new ground!
Also this is the hometown of our running-friends Leonid, Zakadad, Rostem,
Ildar and Ramil, Pasha, Victor and Vitali.
Great to meet them again:-)
A few facts abuot Tartastan and Kazan: The Tartar Republic of Russia has a
population of 5 mill. people and has during "Glasnost" several times
claimed autonomi but finally remained a part of the Russian Federation.
It has oil-rich soil and a quite good economy.
Kazan (1 mill. people) is the capital and has a beautifull "Kremlin"
dominated by its many minarets - the main religion beeing Muslim.
This 13. century city was our finishplace today - after the coldest day so
far: only -10C but hard wind and low "snow-smoke" made its effects on all
exposed skin.
On the other side we were helped by ANC-Roadpatrol/police escort again
today and the compagny of many runners and a warm wellcome in Kazan - and,
and, and!
- Spasiba; or as they say in Tartastan "Rakman"!
PS: During the stage we also were escorted by a huge ambulance bus.
It only come to use when we found a small injured halffrozen bird onthe
tarmac.
It recieved well service by the medical team.
