- Guest reporter Peter Rietveld writes:

A long downhill from the pass, giving the hamstrings a break and the
stroller some free momentum. Great to run downhill with the only concern
that it will go up eventually again. While running down the valley kind of
opened up wide with snow capped mountains in the distance on either side.
The long way we ran was because we were behind schedule a bit and there
was no town in between the pass and Golden. Because of this longest run so
far we did not bother finding a tent place and hopped into the nearest
motel. 12km before arriving we smelled some burning rubber which was
caused by the brake pads of John Dawes who came down on his bicycle with
an average of 38 km an hour training for his iron man. John is the owner
of the IGA in Golden and supplied us with free supplies for the next leg,
THANKS John!!!!! Peter
