65km., 6:28h. (Kazuko +5min., Alexander +8min.).
Yesterday we visited the local chatolic church in Menzelinsk and took part
in the midnight ceremony of Easter.
An interesting display of the many rituals, icons and symbols of the
Russian Chatolic Church.
We joined in the midnight circling around the church; hundreds of village
people carrying wax candles in the silent icy air; in front was the priest
leading the procession followed by clerks with icons and holy incense
(smoke).
The ceremonies inside and outside the church went on untill 4 am..
Allthough we went back earlier than that, we were still quite tired in the
morning, and 65km. waited us.
But we came through the stage - accompagnied again by full police escort
and local athletes (they changed team at our 35km. point); excellent for
the documentation and good for new friendships too!
At the finish point we had a view to the beginning of the real Ureal
Mountains.
So far we only "battled" with the foothills, but today there was anyways a
1 hour - hill; something that bites well on the legs.
